Japan, Kagoshima Apr09

We arrived in our first port Kagoshima, Kyushu out of 4 ports in Japan early in the morning.
It was raining and bit chilly.

Tour buses await tourists from the ship at the pier.

No, we are not going to witness the volcanic eruption today.
According to locals, this volcanic island is always spitting out this smoke.

Street car

This street with hundreds of sake bars is very quiet at the moment but it will turn out crowded house at night with neons.

Japanese gold diggers focusing Japanese slot machine Pachinko.
Dream on.

Shopping arcade with roof cover like this helped us to shop around in rainy day like today.

Greg managed to buy himself freshly baked sweets and was very happy.

A temple in the city centre

The temple has a small but nice front yard.

These are for making evils to stay away from the beholder.
Does it really work?
Let me see....

All sort of Japanese pickles inside of one of big department store.

This machine makes Japanese cake with sweet beans inside.

Japanese 'Tanko'
BBQ grilled skewers of sticky rice balls with different sauces.
They melt in your mouth and yummy!

Sometimes, you wonder.
Is presentation all about Japanese foods?

Beautifully displayed Japanese sweets!

A friendly shop keeper who gave us a sample of salmon roe.
Delicious!

Tenmunkan restaurant where we had lunch

Lunch bento set that Heo had.
It was nice!

Greg was not really impressed with his bento set.

Little ceremony performed by local dance compancy.
Japanese drums!
It was very nice as this is the only port that cared about farewell to their visitors.
