Ashdod for Jerusalem Tour, Israel 22Apr14

Ashdod is a port close to Jerusalem.

We stayed in Tel Aviv for a week 6 months ago and
took a day tour to Jerusalem and Dead Sea one day.

This time, we decided to join ship's tour of
Yad Vashem and old Jerusalem.
It was whole day tour.
Tour of old Jerusalem would be duplicated but
we haven't covered Yad Vashem,
the Memorial for victims of Holocaust then.

Most of passengers took Jerusalem or
Tel Aviv tour offered by the ship.

There were only dozen people signed up for the tour
so it was cosy and quiet in our tour bus.

We had nice buffet lunch at Dan Jerusalem Hotel
before went to old Jerusalem.

Our tour guide is about 60 and
very enthusiastic about his job.

It was very good day with so many new information
learned about the city, history and people.
Yad Vashem was very moving...

Most of messages people put in between walls is
their wish to win a big lotto,
according to our tour guide. ^^

A Jewish man with Shtreimel on Sabbath.
Yes, it was Saturday.
The "Shtreimel" consists of a cap surrounded
with fur of tails from a fox.

The "Spodik" is worn by Hasidim of polish origin.
It is very similar to the "Shtreimel",

only a little taller and made of synthetic fur.
