View of the port and the city of Colombo
from the Crows Nest bar on board
A world cruise with heavy industrial port
as a background
gives a strange combination.
Port with shops
It is a walking distance from the ship
to some of city's tour attractions
City centre where we took a taxi to
We spent few hours(mainly for the cafe's free wi fi)
in the shopping centre called Odel
nearby the city's famous clock tower.
We can't pass Galle Face Hotel which we
used to have nice lunch buffet
whenever we are in town
and there is no exception for this time also.
With close friend, ship's spa manager and
fellow cruise passenger friends from Colorado.
Beautiful view from the buffet restaurant
Food is all very tasty
Fresh fruits

I decided to walk back to the ship which
took about half an hour.
I was drenched in sweat as
it is so humid and high in temperature.
But, it was not all that unpleasant
with cool sea breeze and sighting
local young dating happy couples.
On our second day in Colombo,
we decided to check a local market.
It is only a quarter of an hour
from the port on foot
which came in handy.
It is a public holiday but
the crowd in market alleys
seems to be normal as usual.
Train station
market
This is a Buddhist country!
A young tuktuk driver was posing at my camera. ^^
There are not only Buddhist but also muslims, too.
A Beautiful Mosque was found just
around the corner of the market.
Assorted pickles
On my way back to the ship from the market
