One of the perks for passengers' loyalty program
of Holland America Line is to be invited
for a complimentary cooking class on board.
We learned that a prominent
Thai chef is cruising with us
for few weeks and
throwing hands-on Thai cooking classes
for the passengers.
Thai food is one of my favourite!
So we signed up!
Mise en place
Pranee is Thai chef living in California
and explaining us
how to fold a bowl made out of
fresh banana leaf
Curry dish steamed in folded banana leaves
We are not allowed to consume the food
that we made ourselves in the class
for health and hygienic reason.
So, we had to move to the Pinnacle restaurant
on board after the cooking class to have
what we are supposed to cook in the class.
But, they are only made in the ship's kitchen
by professional cooks.
Personally, the food that we made in the class
would be tastier than the ones we had in the Pinnacle.
Patong beach
Our ship ms Amsterdam docked in
Deep Sea Port in Phuket
where is on the East South of the island.
It is quite far away from Patong beach where is
the main commercial area of the island.
We shared a taxi at the port with a couple from Canada
and returned to the ship after few hours in Patong beach.
We enjoyed the beautiful beach area
under the shade of palm trees
and had a nice local Thai lunch.
