Wadi Rum, Lawrence of Arabia, Jordan

Port of Aqaba, Jordan is
gateway to ancient
treasure Petra.

We went to see wonderful Petra
a couple of years ago when
we visited this port by Seabourn cruise ship.

This time, we decided to experience
the life of Lawrence of Arabia in Wadi Rum.
Well, it is just for a day, at least.

The entrance of Wadi Rum

It is not exactly in our mind
when the tour operator
described these vehicles
as luxury 4 wheel drive.
These are actually old pick up trucks.

We will be fine as long as
these are not broken down
in the middle of hot desert.

 We were enjoying a breeze
even if it was a warm
as truck sped up

I was absolutely overwhelmed by the scale
of rock formations, its size and beauty.

It is me who is climbing this
sandy hill.
Just because, nobody else
in our tour group did it.

Even though my legs and knees
are getting like jelly
in every step I made  and
going deep inside the sand,
I finally made to the top.

And it was worthwhile
when I got paid off
with the spectacular view
in front of my eyes
from the top of the hill.

The rest of the tour group is
resting inside the bedouin tent
when I crawled down.

It was really hot and humid day.

The local tour guide was trying to explain
something about this wall paint
after we viewed the little face
of Lawrence himself carved into a rock.

After a little more than an hour of desert safari driving,
every one gathered into this pit stop for a tea and biscuit
to finish up our excitement in Wadi Rum.

Exotic night views of port Aqaba from the ship
just before sail away into Suez Canal.
